THE GO FOR THE GOAL

 1 Corinthians  9:24  Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

I have come to understand that life is a race whether you believe it or not it doesn't matter. What makes the race important is that you have a goal and what make the goal important is that you have to go for that goal. As a matter of fact the day or night can never wait for you. Only one person in the Bible paused time and that's the perosn of Joshua According to Joshua  10:12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.  10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Since then there have been no record when time waited for anyone, it means you and I don't have to be careless about this journey through life. Though the journey can't be so sweet but what makes this race easier is when you have standards.Start setting up standards now. You don't have any perfect time to do that but now. We really need to have standards which will keep us going and focused in this race. If you don't have standards you are running on a time bomb that will soon explode because everything goes that's what it means and that's not good enough.

Benefits of Setting up Standards 

1) You will move with Speed

When you set up standards  especially in line with God's Word, you will be focused and people who are not having the same standards like you have will automatically be out of your life. This you will do most times intentionally. You move faster because you have less people to deal with. Let's see Daniel  1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel setting up his standard in line with the Word of God made him have less friends (Three Hebrew children). Too many friends can be a source of distraction and with this you cannot achieve your goal for the year. 

2) You will find Favour 

Daniel  1:9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

Our God is a God of standards that's why he didn't tolerate Satan in heaven  when he allowed pride into him. He had to send him and his host of his fallen angels to the earth because God knew the price of breaking His standards. So if we on our own are able to maintain our standards, God will be pleased with us and we will find favour with Him even when other people will be unhappy with us as it is the case most times. Remember pleasing God should be your utmost priority.

How to Set up Standards 

It's  so easy first you do it by following His Word and secondly by using His wisdom in you to set standards that will make you focused in achieving your goals.

James  1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
