Making your weekend count.

We have to get our weekend straight and fixed so that we don't have a stressful weekend after having a stressful day. Here are some ways you can make it worthwhile with your family.
"The best things in life are free," goes the old
saying--but what can you do for free that's
actually...well...fun? Here's some pointers to
explore the cheap fun things to do with your
family.

Check your local newspaper for
Community Events. Towns, cities,
libraries, schools, recreation centers
and the like often have free events.
Check your local museums, parks,
and the like for special Open House
days or other events that offer free
admission.
Explore the Great Outdoors. Outside
parks, forests, state land, and the
like are often free and offer a lot of
fun activities like swimming, nature
hikes, camping, kite-flying, and the
like. Be sure to check out special
events like free workshops, guided
hikes, stargazing parties, and more.

Cook Together.
You have to cook
dinner; why not do it together? A
family cooking project: chocolate
chip cookies, barbecuing, making
smoothies, making applesauce, is
low cost and is fun. For the kids,
there are some great "food craft"
projects that they'll probably enjoy,
like creating brightly colored rice or
pasta to eat or making fruit sushi.

Play together.
When was the last
time you played catch with your
Dad? Played chess with your
stepmom? What about something
simple like rocks, paper, scissors or
tic tac toe ?

Create together.
Get your family
involved in a project, such as
building a tree house out of scrap
lumber, painting the living room,
creating a family scrapbook, and
more

Did She really forgive those who raped her?

Being raped is an incident that cannot been forgotten in a life time. I guess it now on the increasing side these days whose fault we may ask ? But the fact still remains there is no excuse for doing what is wrong.. Here is a true life story from Vanguard ...

A Lagos based female evangelist (names
witheheld), recently kidnapped and gang raped
by her abductors around Ogijo area of Ikorodu
Lagos, left everyone speechless when she told
two of her abductors arrested by the Lagos
State Police command that she had forgiven
them for their sins.
The traumatized evangelist who is still trying to
come to terms with her nine days despicable
experience in the hands of nine kidnappers,
even went further to lay her hands on the
arrested suspects, advising them to turn new
leaves in order to make heaven at the end of
their sojourn on earth.
The woman, as gathered, was abducted early
this month and kept in the kidnaper’s den; an
uncompleted building in Ogijo, Ikorodu,
alongside other kidnapped victims, among
whom was a Briton. It was gathered that her
abductors tore her clothes into shreds and left
her in her nude throughout her nine days
stay, where they had her in turns and at any
given time.
While the dehumanizing act was on, one of the
kidnappers reportedly put a call through to the
evangelist’s husband, demanding for N20
million ransom.  But her husband reportedly
dropped the sum of N2 million in an
undisclosed location the fourth day but did not
have his wife released to him as expected.
Escape at last
On the ninth day, Crime Guard was informed
that eight members of the kidnap gang drove
out in two vehicles to collect a ransom of N25
million, for the release of the Briton , at
Caterpillar bus-stop, Ojota, leaving one of them,
(Emeka) behind, to guard their victims.
Moments later, the armed kidnapper was said
to had gone to the exhausted evangelist to
ease his sexual urge.  But he got more than
what he bargained for as the exhausted
woman, in what could be described as a
miracle, flung him away, and he hit his head on
the brick wall.
According to the woman evangelist who initially
bluntly refused to speak to anyone , other than
the arrested kidnappers and Police, “ I do not
know where the strength came from. But as he
was about penetrating… I pushed him and he
hit his head on the wall and passed out.
Without caring whether I was naked or not, or
whether I would be shot in the process, I rushed
out of the uncompleted building shouting for
help. To my surprise, I discovered that the
building was even located among residential
buildings.”
It was learnt that one of the curious
sympathizers who gathered round her, gave her
a wrapper to cover her nakedness.
Back inside the uncompleted building, the
kidnapper,on regaining consciousness,
reportedly scaled the fence and fled, abandoning
his AK 47 riffle, apparently afraid that his
escapee could have blown the lid. An irate mob
stormed the building later, where the Briton was
rescued and the duo taken to the Area N
Command,Ijede.
Meanwhile, the rest members of the gang who
had earlier gone to collect the ransom for the
release of the Briton at Ojota, met their waterloo
at the designated point of receipt.
Unknown to them, operatives of the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, who got wind of
their escapades, intercepted them, resulting in
a gun duel which forced the kidnappers to
abandon their loot and escaped.
One of them identified as Emeka was, however,
arrested and he took the operatives to their
hideout from where their victims were
discovered to have been taken to Area N
Command, Ijede. Police sources told Crime
Guard that Emeka’s confessional statement led
to the arrest of another suspected member of
the gang known as Ikechukwu Ibe.
In his confessional statement, Emeka
exonerated him self from the gang rape, saying:
“ I could not do it because she kept shouting
the name Jesus! Besides, when I discovered
she was married, I refused to take part. I even
told my colleagues to let her be, since her
husband had already paid N2 Million. It was
Sam, Innocent, Ikechukwu,Ugo and the rest
that raped her . She was kept permanently
naked to allow them easy access.
Sam is our leader while Ikechukwu is his
deputy. Ugo is the messenger and ‘pointer’.
What he does is to identify our victim after
which we would intercept the vehicle. My job is
to alight from our operational vehicle, get the
victim inside before zooming off. At times, we
kidnap our victims through information from
their drivers,” he said.
One AK 47 and one pump action rifle were
reportedly recovered by the policemen at the
kidnappers den.

BE STILL.

Most times we all try to achieve things especially when we start looking at our mates ,it comes in two ways firstly when we see those who are above us we tend to be under pressure because we often think we haven't done enough. Secondly when we look at those who we have passed we tend to be relaxed not knowing that we could do more.
Now success should not be measured with people or time but rather it should be measured with YOU;from your personal goal and target not from people's achievements ...So be still and look closely you will find out that you never lost in the long run and more so you could have done better if only you bordered to try..

How to Pass Job Interviews Successfully.

How to Pass a Job Interview Successfully
From: Lazy Writa.
Job interview is the final step on the way to a new job where all the details of a future cooperation are discussed. The employer often emphasis not on the work experience but on the preparedness of a candidate for the job interview.

Job interview is rather a stressful situation for any job seeker and unnecessary excitement may spoil everything. That is why we recommend to pay attention to a few tips that may help increase your chances:

Be nice at the first look. Clothing can tell a lot about the candidate. Nice look is a measure of respect to the employer. It is unlikely that you will be offered a good post in a reputable company if the first impression is spoiled with dirty shoes or greasy hair. Small drawbacks will always be seen. The most suitable is the classic style of clothing. Do not wear track suit and jeans even there are no strict requirements to the dress code in the company. Avoid bright colours and too expensive accessories. Choose closed toe shoes with a backdrop.

Be punctual. Always come for an interview a few minutes early. Being late often motivates the employer to strike out the name of a person from the list of candidates. Do not forget to switch off the mobile phone.

Be attentive. Listen carefully and ask to repeat the question if you do not understand it. Answer confidently and concisely, avoid monosyllabic and incomprehensible answers ("yes/no", "probably", "not quite sure" etc.). Remember about the manners and the etiquette of communication.

One of the most difficult and tricky questions is "Tell me a little about yourself." Often the answer decides the further future of a candidate. Describe briefly your autobiography, focus on the information about work experience, education, the reasons for dismissal and the responsibilities that you have performed. Do not criticize your previous colleagues and former directors.

Do not be afraid to promote yourself as a good specialist: tell about your personal qualities, advantages and professional achievements. Emphasize that the commitment to the continuing professional development is very important and you will always be ready to attend training courses that will contribute to your self-education.

Do not be afraid the question about your personal deficiencies – it is part of any job interview. It is important to take into account that the specialty for which you are going to work. For example, if you want to work as a journalist, do not talk about such quality as lack of confidence in dealing with people. In total, it is important to the employer to prove that you are able to talk about the personal shortcomings and know how to overcome them.

Do not be surprised if the employer asks about your marital status and children. It is significant information for an experienced director that helps determine if the post is suitable for you. For example, if the work is related to long and frequent business trips, it is easier for the employer to hire a professional who is not encumbered by family ties. On the other hand, having a family may indicate that the person is stable and decent.

Do not forget to prepare documents - resume in two copies, diploma of education and additional advanced training certificates.
The most important secret is the presence of a genuine interest not only to the post, but also to the activity and objectives of the company. In order to avoid misunderstandings do not hesitate to ask questions about working conditions and whether the employer adheres to the Labour Act. Smile and be positive, try to answer confidently and concisely, avoid complicated and confusing terms. Be well mannered. It is quite possible that you will pass a job interview successfully and soon you will get the job of your dream!

How Do I change my Boyfriend's friends?

Hello,I will like to remain anonymous because I don't know if my boyfriend is currently reading this.

They say birds of the same feather flock together and many times I feel like it’s true but in this instance I hope it’s not.
So I’ve been dating this guy for a while, and for the most part he has been a great boyfriend. No real cause to complain, but my major issue is his friends.
His friends are all single, and they party way too much. Every weekend they are going to some club or another and always hanging with random club girls that only God knows what their eye is chooking for.
I know my boyfriend doesn’t want anything else, but I feel like he’s always being exposed to easy loose girls by his friends that are single and still mingling. He never tries to keep me away from going out it with him, but most times I don’t feel like going out all the time so I let him go hang with his friends.

Sometimes I over hear the convos his friends have and they are always talking about some girl they smashed or want to smash and all their random escapades. One time they were talking about a girl I knew, and you need to hear how they just disrespecting the girl because she slept with one of them a few times. Are these the kind of friends I want my boyfriend hanging around?

I have tried to encourage him to hang out with more guys who are in relationships or married but he says “They are dry and boring, and never want to do anything.” I don’t understand what he means by that. Is it cos they don’t go out partying all the time? or that they’d rather go to a play or a movie than playing video games with the “homies” and discussing babes?

I feel like his friends are trying to get him to be single again and exposing him to all the things that are out there. He might be good now, but I feel like one day he’ll realize he doesn’t want to be in a relationship anymore, and leave me. Or even worse that one of those skanky girls will get their paws on him, and make him cheat.

How do I keep him from hangout with his single friends all the time? I feel like if a guy is serious about a relationship he should be hanging a lot with single friends. Isn’t that distracting? Or am I just being ridiculous?
I’ll appreciate any advice,Thank You.

We Have Met ASSU'S Demand says F.G

Well, from how things have been going there are possibly tendencies that ASSU will shift grounds. This is what vanguard has to say:

ABUJA – THE presidency Tuesday said that the Federal Government has met with demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and there was no need to maintain the strike, just as it stressed that the agreement was reached sequel to the last meeting held between Federal Government and ASUU.

According to the Presidency, the administration believes that with the agreement and the result of the votes across the campuses, ASUU has no reason for further sustenance of the strike, even as it called on the Union to comply with the call on them to resume work without further delay.

This is coming as the ultimatum issued to ASUU lapses today.

Speaking  in Abuja during an interactive session with leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Students’ Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe who noted that a larger membership of ASUU campus chapters had voted for the immediate call-off of the strike, stressed that the directive given by the government was not targeted to threaten the ASUU leadership, but designed to show government’s commitment towards ensuring that all university students return to school.

According to him, ASUU leaders must work in line with the directives by ensuring that all students get back to the campus as the government would ensure a water-tight security on the campuses, adding, “The Nigerian public should be informed that the government has met all the promises they made on this ASUU issue. If they have not agreed, there was no reason for them to have said they would meet their members and get back . It means there was an agreement that was reached.

“The Minister of Education announced that lecturers should resume, it was not in anyway targeted at threatening or compelling the leadership of ASUU to go back to school.”

In his remarks, NANS president, Comrade Yinka who maintained that its association was neutral, said that it supports a just cause, adding that the association was standing by the government because it was working in line with its desire which was for all schools to reopen.

This is to let you know that your Brain is Sharp.

FG vs ASUU War

This actually came in response to the recent threat:
 - “We’re Not Calling Off Strike” – ASUU Replies Mass Layoffs Of Lecturers Threat

ASUU officials through their President have released a lengthy press release in response to planned massive layoffs of lecturers that will begin on Wednesday the 4th of December, 2013.

The Federal Government of Nigeria said last week that if the lecturers refused to call off the strike by Wednesday, a mass layoff will commence immediately.

ASUU President, Nasir Fagge Isa spoke at length on the threat this afternoon in a press conference in Abuja.

Isa said ASUU will only bow to what will serve the interest of Nigeria and its people, no matter their ethnic, religious or class origins.

He expressed dismay that a Minister of Education could call for the sack of all academic staff in universities in the country, adding that the government appeared not to have learnt any lesson from the previous regimes of Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Sanni Abacha who issued similar threat but failed to subdue the lecturers.

Read the detail of the Press release below:

“That a Minister of Education would pronounce a threat of mass sack of academic staff is a tragedy of huge proportion for Nigeria and Africa. While ASUU has been struggling for conditions in which Nigerian students would benefit from a very much enhanced academic environment in teaching and research facilities, the Minister of Education is thinking of a thoughtless mass sack as a solution to the problems arising from government’s non-implementation of an agreement reached with ASUU as if Nigerian rulers have made no intellectual progress since Abacha,”.

“To be clear, Nigerian lecturers, from Graduate Assistants to Professors, are not begging anybody for jobs. It is now well known that since 2003, successive governments have told the Nigerian people, repeatedly, that the solution to Nigeria’s social and economic crises is to kill public, economic and educational institutions and institute the reign of private control of the economy and education, whereas the Constitution of Nigeria states clearly that the commanding heights of Nigeria’s economy shall be publicly owned. The President of Nigeria in 2003, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo told ASUU that the solution to Nigeria’s university crisis is massive privatisation.

“From all indications, the Minister of Education, on behalf of the present government, assisted without shame by NUC, and on behalf of government, is set to carry out in the sphere of education what one of its predecessors did with universities, Transcorps, and the Airways. The way is being paved for privatisation of education. Academic staff have a duty to defend the right of Nigerians to sound public education. To succumb to the present threat by the Minister of Education on behalf of government is to give up on Nigeria. We in the academic profession have no such intention,”.

Instead of issuing threat of mass sack, ASUU called on the government to recruit more lecturers for the nations’ universities.

“Given the inadequacy of teaching staff in the university system, it is recommended that government shall have a deliberate policy of improving the national teacher-student ratio to 1:20 within the next two years. Using the present figures of students’ enrolment; this translates to increasing the number of full-time academic staff in Nigerian universities to 50,000. This means the recruitment of additional 23,000 lecturers on the basis of 50:50 ratio between the Federal and state universities,” .

When will this strike end? Why can’t the Federal Government answer these people for the sake of the students.

Of what use is a senseless threat to underpaid lecturers.

The battle has just began.....
